  The Phoenix Choral Composition Competition 2010/11.

The competition is open to composers of any nationality and any age. The choir is offering three prizes:

First prize -  £300, Second Prize - £200 and Third Prize - £100

An outstanding range of music

 

  • Repertoire
à cappella   sacred and secular from 1000 to 2004 including commissioned works;
with orchestra Bach (all the major works), Britten, Bruckner, Buxtehude, Handel, Haydn, Mozart, Rawsthorne, Stravinsky etc etc and ever expanding;
  • Base
Shrewsbury Members from many parts of Shropshire;
  • Performances
home   Throughout Shropshire and farther afield
abroad        Estonia, France, Germany, Holland, Hungary, Italy, Poland, Russia, some places several times. In 2008, France again, with with instrumentalists from Germany and Cyprus.
with others    Regularly receives groups from abroad, the last to come being an orchestra from Celle, Germany for the B Minor Mass.
